A funny, heart-warming, and authentic comedy set on the frontlines of domiciliary care
6 x 30'
At Belfast care service Beacon Fold, support workers Francis and Sinead are doing their best to look after their disabled and neurodivergent clients – if not always each other.
Newcomer Sinead is an unstoppable force of optimism and idealism; experienced Francis is the immovable object of reality and pragmatism. As they clash, flirt, and share far too much, the pair tackle the small daily crises unfolding around them. Caring for their clients is never the problem. Their greatest challenges come from endless bureaucracy, colleagues with highly unconventional approaches to the job, and personal lives that are rapidly falling apart.
Inspired by writer Matthew McDevitt’s years working in adult domiciliary care, Rewarding is a warm and authentic six-part comedy about the people on both sides of the care system. Featuring disabled, neurodivergent, and learning-disabled talent in key roles, it finds heart, humour, and humanity in an overlooked world, and reveals who is supporting whom.
