Originating Territory: Germany

SWR (Germany) - 6 x 45'

What happens when a chef has to cook the perfect meal for complete strangers – without knowing anything about them?

In What’s For Dinner a chef enters an unknown home while its residents are away. With only their kitchen, fridge and personal belongings as clues, he has to figure out who lives there, what they might like – and what he should cook for them.

As he explores the house, every room, photograph and fridge shelf reveals another piece of the puzzle. But ultimately, there is only one test: will his menu hit the mark?

When the residents return, they finally meet the chef and sit down to taste the meal he has created especially for them. How well has he read the clues – and how close has he come to their perfect meal?

A brilliantly simple cooking format combining food, irresistible keyhole appeal, real people and a fantastic reveal – with a new home, new characters and a new culinary challenge in every episode.
